This Furniture Manufacturer is looking for a Regional Sales Manager to report to the VP Sales and be responsible for establishing and growing business in and around Houston, Texas. This position participates with other members of the sales organization in generating revenue/profits in their assigned region. The position will also require active participation in field intelligence relative to product development and sales programs.

The Regional Sales Manager will drive business primarily with the K12 and Higher Education Vertical Markets. You will build partnerships with multiple stakeholders to include: school districts, school boards, schools, dealer distribution, A & D Firms, facility managers, procurement directors, curriculum directors, deans and governmental agencies.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Identify and close new business opportunities within the region
  • Develop and maintain a process for new business which will include: building and maintaining a prospect database, sales updates/changes, work orders and RFP response
  • Identify and qualify prospective clients
  • Execute communications with current customers and prospective clients
  • Develop proposals in response to RFPs and present company expertise to prospective clients
  • Research and stay current with marketplace climate, trends, industries, innovations, products and services
  • Understand the furniture needs of prospective clients and how the company can help them meet their learning environment needs
  • Manage the development of cost proposals, contract negotiations and contract execution between the company and prospective clients
  • Ensure the image and position of the company is articulated consistently across all communications to prospective clients
  • Speak knowledgeably about the company product lines, progressive learning environments and the furniture
  • Meet prospective client milestones/delivery dates
  • Maintain a work environment characterized by high expectations and aggressive goals/objectives, while fostering an open, accountable and teamwork environment
  • Provide regular updates to the VP Sales
  • Coordinate with company departments and decision makers
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Track all regional contract due dates and be responsible for knowing expiration and new bid dates
  • Will need to travel (via car and possibly flights)

Ideal Client

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience with a proven track record in sales with a specific focus in the education marketplace. They will have a BS Degree in Marketing or Business, as well as potentially an MBA. The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:

  • Must be inspired to deliver demo samples to multiple stakeholders which will require the appropriate personal vehicle to transport chairs and tables
  • Home office based
