Penn Medicine is looking for a Managing Director to lead its new Interventional Support Center (ISC). This new operations position will report to the Chief Operating Officer at Penn Medicine and will be responsible for the management/leadership of this 24/7/365 facility. The ideal candidate will have a very strong operations background including experience in supply chain, logistics, materials handling, transportation, quality, with six sigma certification and prior hands-on working knowledge of “clean rooms”.

In this new operations role, the Managing Director will:

  • Ensure that the ISC cleans and sterilizes instruments for multiple Penn Medicine entities
  • Manage the efficient and timely transportation logistics between sites
  • Drive the highest possible quality outcomes in accordance with the Joint Commission, AAMI, ISO and GMP standards
  • Map and develop standardized processes for the ISC guided by Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Staff the ISC with qualified personnel who function as a high-performing team
  • Develop and maintain a highly collaborative and communicative relationship with the Governance Committee, Penn Medicine entities, senior leadership, surgical leadership and line staff
  • Develop and manage the operating budget

In order to be considered for this new Operations role, your background/experience should include:

  • 10 to 15 years of operations/supply chain/logistics experience. Prior experience managing the processing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Knowledge and experience with materials management, logistics and transportation required
  • Master’s degree in healthcare (MSN or surgical services) or Engineering or Business preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with instrument processing, perioperative services, AAMI, TJC, ADRN preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, consensus builder and customer service orientation
  • Develop and manage the operating budget
