Human Capital Consulting Partners has been retained by our client Gratz Industries, LLC (www.pilates-gratz.com), an internationally recognized manufacturer of Pilates equipment, located in West Philadelphia, to assist them in recruiting a Production Manager who reports to the Owners.
The Production Manager:
- Directs and coordinates production operations and personnel to obtain efficiency and economy of operations
- Plans, develops, and implements policies and goals
- Analyzes production operations and recommends changes in production procedures
- Establishes priorities and sequence for manufacturing products personally or through production personnel
- Coordinates the internal workflow including woodworking, spray and lacquering, metalworking, welding, cutting, machining, sandblasting, grinding and finishing, upholstery, assembly of apparatus, and large wrapping, packaging, and shipping
- Ensures that the company produces the highest quality products and services for its customers
- Meets cost objectives, inventory requirements, and shipping, in strict compliance with customer specifications and industry standards
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews work orders and master schedule to ascertain product details in order to plan department operations
- Plans production operations, establishes priorities, and schedules jobs as necessary to support the master schedule
- Establishes priorities and improves production lead times, fulfillments and sequence of manufacturing jobs
- Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production quantity and quality of products meet customer specifications
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and to prevent operational delays
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization, and safe operation
- Develops or revises standard operational and work practices; trains manufacturing personnel to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures
- Compiles and maintains production data and records; maintains Preventative Maintenance Records
- Reviews existing fabrication means/methods and develops/implements new approaches/processes
- Trains, develops and evaluates staff; takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy
- Interfaces with sales and customer care, bookkeeping, purchasing, operations manager and other employees on a regular basis
- Assists with or performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Supports the overall profitability and betterment of the company
Essential Qualifications & Competencies
- Knowledge of plant production, 8-10 years of manufacturing experiences with smaller and mid-size organizations; 5+ years supervisory experience
- Prior experience as a production planner/master planner preferred
- Experience with fabrication, woodworking, metalworking, assembly, preferred
- Engineering background a plus
- Six Sigma Certification a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of staff
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate production machinery, typical office equipment and communications devices
